I welcome enquiries about articles, interviews and expert comment on cyber security and digital forensics. I consider each request according to the organisation, audience, topic and deadline.
Whether you need an explanation for a general audience or a technical contribution for a specialist publication, send a brief outline. I will confirm whether the subject fits my experience and whether I can meet your requirements.
Ways I can contribute
Interviews
Written questions and answers, podcast conversations, recorded interviews and broadcast contributions can be considered by agreement. Let me know the format, likely duration and whether the interview will be live or edited.
Authored articles
Explainers, practical features and technical articles for general, professional or trade publications. An editorial brief, intended audience and word count help establish a useful angle and realistic delivery date.
Comment and background
Expert comment or a background briefing to help an editor or reporter understand the technical questions. We will agree the scope and how the contribution may be attributed or used before the discussion.
Topics for discussion
Enquiries across cyber and digital forensic subjects are welcome. Relevant areas include:
- Cyber incidents: incident response, data breaches, ransomware and business email compromise, including how investigators approach the available evidence.
- Digital forensic methods: examining computers, phones and cloud records, preserving material and understanding what an examination can establish.
- Evidence and authenticity: provenance, timestamps, messages and documents, and the limits of drawing conclusions from incomplete records.
- Legal and corporate investigations: explaining technical findings, assessing evidence quality and the role of independent forensic examination.
The aim is a clear account of the evidence, the uncertainties and the practical implications. I do not discuss confidential client casework.

What to include in your enquiry
A short brief is enough to start. Please include:
- Your name, organisation, publication or outlet, and contact details.
- The topic, intended audience and any proposed questions or article brief.
- The format, expected length or duration, and any recording arrangements.
- Your deadline, proposed interview times and time zone.
- The intended publication and use, including whether you want an on-record contribution, attributed comment or background briefing.
- Any proposed commercial arrangement or terms for commissioning and using the contribution.
Availability, scope, publication terms and any commercial arrangement are agreed before I commit. Please keep confidential evidence and client material out of the initial message.
