B2B capacity and specialist support
Digital Forensics Outsourcing and Overflow Casework
Flexible senior support for forensic providers, law firms, eDiscovery teams and separate specialists that need additional capacity or a defined digital forensic skill. Acquisition, examination, review, chronology, reporting or technical consultation can be scoped with responsibilities agreed before evidence is transferred.
Conflicts and capacity checked first · Written scope and milestones · No unapproved client contact
A defined piece of work
When external support may help
Capacity pressure
A deadline or evidence volume exceeds available internal capacity and a separable work package is needed.
Specialist digital input
A matter needs focused computer, mobile, email, document, incident, timeline or collection experience.
Independent review
A provider requires a second check of acquisition records, parsed output, totals, chronology or technical reasoning.
Collection before review
An eDiscovery or legal team needs documented device, mailbox, cloud or storage acquisition and a usable hand-off.
Complementary expertise
The digital component needs to remain distinct from imagery, audio, video or another specialist discipline.
Work packages that can be defined
- Forensic imaging and targeted data collection.
- Computer, mobile, messaging, email or document examination.
- Chronology development and source reconciliation.
- Independent report, extraction or quality review.
- eDiscovery collection planning and technical hand-off.
- Findings note, technical report or consultation within the agreed role.
Remote and attended collection
Where the instruction and device are suitable, remote collection may be possible from a live system through an encrypted collection agent, or from a switched-off system started from a controlled bootable USB or CD. Authority, operator steps, encryption, verification and hand-off are agreed before collection.
Alistair is UK based and available for worldwide travel, including across EMEA, by agreement. Feasibility depends on legal authority, data-transfer restrictions, safety, timetable, equipment movement and cost.
A controlled B2B workflow
From availability check to hand-back
- Conflicts and suitability. Check the underlying parties, commissioning provider, required role, capacity and deadline.
- Onboarding. Complete the agreed NDA, DPA, supplier and insurance information where required.
- Written work package. Define the questions, source manifest, authority, security route, output, milestones and exclusions.
- Estimate or call-off. Agree fees, assumptions, reporting cadence and approval controls before evidence transfer.
- Delivery and hand-back. Supply the agreed notes, hashes, exports, findings or report, then follow the recorded return or deletion arrangement.
Clear authorship
Responsibility cannot be hidden
Non-testifying technical work may be delivered within the commissioning provider’s agreed workflow. Where Alistair provides expert opinion, signs a report or gives evidence, he is identified as the author and remains responsible for his independent opinion.
Any contribution from another discipline is separately identified and scoped. The website does not name or imply a standing partner organisation.
Commercial confidence
Boundaries agreed before work begins
- No approach to the commissioning organisation’s client outside the written instruction.
- No publicity, reuse or case-detail disclosure.
- No unapproved work beyond the agreed scope or fee control.
- Status updates at agreed milestones.
- Clear evidence return, retention and deletion arrangements.
Information needed to check availability
- Underlying party and entity names for conflicts.
- Your organisation, proposed role and client-contact boundary.
- Required work package, source types, approximate volumes and condition.
- Output, milestones, final deadline and any dependency on another team.
- Onboarding, location, security and hand-off requirements.
Important limitations
- Capacity and timing are confirmed before acceptance, not promised as a standing service level.
- Access, encryption, damaged media or incomplete source records can change what is achievable.
- Expert independence and authorship are not white-labelled.
- Legal, privilege, disclosure and client decisions remain with the authorised team.
Do not send case evidence through the public enquiry form.
Start with capacity and scope
Check availability for overflow or specialist casework
Provide conflicts, the required work package, broad source types, output and deadline. Evidence follows only after written scope and an agreed transfer route.
